Independent Long Island appoints second ambassador

January 2, 2009

The Governor of Independent Long Island (ILI) announced today the appointment of the Hon. Sen. Dr. Harikumar Pallathadka as Independent Long Island High Commissioner to India.

This is Independent Long Island’s second diplomatic post ever. In the Commonwealth, member nations do not have ambassadors to the countries of each other, but high commissioners. Since Independent Long Island plans to join the Commonwealth in the future, the Hon. Sen. Dr. Harikumar Pallathadka was appointed High Commissioner to India.

Independent Long Island and India enjoy a close and longstanding bilateral relationship. India enjoys de facto recognition from the Micronational Professional Registry (MPR) as MPR Member No. 000501, and is thus already recognised in a de facto manner by both Independent Long Island (ILI) and the United Micronations Multi-Oceanic Archipelago (UMMOA). The MPR also has an ongoing relationship with the Kale Family, of Indian ancestry, which runs the Zion Business Alliance Ltd., a Surrey, UK-based business & travel documentation consultancy firm.

The Hon. Sen. Dr. Harikumar Pallathadka lives in the State of Kerala, India, and is also a very young and successful Senator of the International States Parliament for Safety and Peace (ISPSP). Through him we hope to improve our visibility with numerous parliamentarians of India, as well as with the Honorable Government of India itself.

The Hon. Sen. Dr. Harikumar Pallathadka was also made Ambassador at Large to all Nations, and through his good will and hard work we hope to improve the standing of Independent Long Island (ILI) with other unrecognised and recognised countries around the world. The Honorable Senator may also help us to develop deeper relations with States that are members of the ISPSP and/or the Commonwealth of Nations.

With a start like this, the Year 2009 seems to bode well for Independent Long Island.
